information about Johnny's music

the band P

P: the band consists of Johnny Depp, Sal Jenco, Bill Carter and Gibby Haynes.

Origins:
While filming What's Eating Gilbert Grape on the outskirts of Austin, Texas in early 1993, Johnny and his friend Sal Jenco met two local musicians, songwriter/roots-rocker Bill Carter and the Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes. Johnny spent off-camera time with Jenco and Haynes, and they watched Carter play at places like the Continental Club. Finally they formed an impromptu band called P and had their first gig at the 1993 Austin Music Awards. This photo of Johnny was taken at that performance.

The P album was released in November 1995. It's no longer produced but you might be able to get hold of it at a second-hand music stockist or at ebay.com.You can read the full publicity release for the album in the The Deppartment's galleries at the Zone.
